It is these words- spoken so authoritatively by Colonel Udi Am-Shalom- That the novel Disengagements- Final Call For Happiness begins. He makes this statement, however, before his sensitive wife Yael meets an experienced older man, a master artist of love and courtship, and before he himself has to evacuate a family from a Jewish settlement in the Gaza strip in the line of duty, on government orders. After these two life changing does Udi grasp how lonely and isolated he really is, and how deeply he yearns for the most basic bond, the one between husband and wife.

This contemporary novel follows the unfolding events leading to the withdrawal of the Gaza strip, and their impact on the life of one typical Israeli family. Although this withdrawal is geographically far from them, it penetrates the deepest cracks in the walls of their home. Constantly flowing from the personal into the national it depicts the acute pain that disengagements entail, and the agony that issues when something whole is unraveled. The national turmoil serves as a backdrop to the gradual crumbling of the Am-Shalom family, and to the reconstruction efforts aimed at bringing new hope and meaning.

Disengagements is not in any way an easy read but interesting all the same. It's about a family who in many aspects gives up on each other and then ultimately finds a way to make it work again.

As you read, you are seeing things through the eyes of each different family member, including the children. One of those children having physical issues and struggles to say what he means. The father always giving him a hard time about the issues and degrading the child for not being "normal".

The father, being in the military, struggling between his job and his moral upbringing. He tried to make his wife understand why he does what he does. It's not about the family, it's about the job.

The wife struggles to understand it all. Why her husband does what he does and trying to defend her children. She, I feel, is the brick in this entire family.

This read really gets to you emotionally and is easy to relate to as a struggling family. How they brought it all back together in the end and made it work, is the best part! It shows the strength and courage this family has and how a bond between husband and wife can make all the difference.

If you are looking for a great realistic read, then this is a good one. Be prepared for a lot of emotions and a roller coaster of events.  Recommend for anyone!

In reading this book I was a little interested to find out more about what a Breatharian actually was. So I did a little research on my own. 

Wikipedia states: Inedia (Latin for "fasting") or breatharianism /brɛθˈɛəriənɪzəm/ is the belief that it is possible for a person to live without consuming food. Breatharians claim that food, and in some cases water, are not necessary for survival, and that humans can be sustained solely by prana, the vital life force in Hinduism. According to Ayurveda, sunlight is one of the main sources of prana, and some practitioners believe that it is possible for a person to survive on sunlight alone. The terms breatharianism or inedia may also refer to this philosophy practiced as a lifestyle in place of the usual diet.

Breatharianism is considered a lethal pseudoscience by scientists and medical professionals, and several adherents of these practices have died from starvation and dehydration.

In the book Ray Maor talks about the different areas people fall under on the types of food they eat. Here is a diagram of what foods belong to each category 

I personally fall under the Omnivore category! As I'm sure it would be much healthier to fall under a different category, but I really like eating meat! 

Ray, being a Breatharian, talks about living on Prana or light with little to no water. Stating that one can live on no food at all. He speaks about the different aspects of what we as humans consume on a daily basis, why we feel that we have to eat and what he has done to take himself away from the norm.

Although I do not agree that we can live like plants do, with photosynthesis, some have made a go at it.
In the book Ray states that you have to be a very special person and have guidance from someone with experience in this way of life in order to survive. In the research I read, many have tried and failed at living in such a way. Leading them to starvation and death.

I guess in reading this book it has interested me enough to want to learn more about the Breatharian way of life. But I would never go as far as to practice it. It's a very interesting read for sure and would recommend it to others as more of a research book to learn about a persons way of life.

Dalia loses her husband in a tragic accident at his place of employment. Dalia is devastated but tries to get her life back on track, for her and for her children. She throws herself into sculpting but finds it unsatisfactory. A long time friend introduces her to the business of day use rooms, rented out by the hour for lovers to use as a getaway from everyday life. Later, she writes a book about all the exciting stories that she has encountered with the day use rooms that she rents out. She aides police in a few cases and receives an award for her efforts! 

She runs into some interesting turn of events and that is where this book really gets interesting! 

In reading this book i was pleasantly surprised at the way it ended! It was full of twists and turns throughout every page. It was full of funny encounters as well as a few heart racing events. It was one of those books that you just didn't want to put down because you would be afraid of missing something! 

I really enjoyed the fact that it was about a woman who picked herself up from despair and made a great turn around into a very successful independent woman. She shows great strength throughout the entire book and in the end has a great surprise and revelation all at the same time! The end was bitter sweet! 

I recommend this read to anyone who is looking for something that has a combination of tragedy, humor and suspense all rolled into one! I felt it was a great read and will definitely read it again!

In this book, a woman takes a journey in life through meditation and channeling.  She finds that she is very special in many aspects. She somehow can talk to Angels as well as other "alien" beings through her meditation sessions. Through her life she learns many valuable lessons. What the light and dark spirits are and how to avoid the ones she shouldn't associate with. She is given many gifts and shares it with those around her.

Now my personal belief does not believe that somehow we can achieve such greatness by talking to "gods", because I truly believe that there is only one God. That being said, here is my review for the book.

It is a great book. The story being told is a good one but was very hard to follow for me. This woman learns that lying is not good for the soul and being hateful just leads to shame. It tells that being honest and straight forward is the key to love and happiness. Making a journey with the "god" Amun, she learns many different aspects of the universe. What is yet to come and how to channel the good light from the darkness.

She makes a journey to many different planets and meets many different "aliens" who teach her how to make changes in life for the good of everyone.

To me, the woman telling her story, has deemed herself as worthy as a god. Healing people and changing life's course for many around her.

There ARE many good points to this book. I feel it teaches people how to love unconditionally and how to live a better, stress free life. However, if you have different beliefs, it's hard to follow. I didn't agree with the whole "talking with the gods" aspect.

I try to stay open to learning new things and making changes in my life for the better. I just don't think this is my cup of tea.

I would recommend this read. Just know that it is not a typical religious book. I personally will read it again, only for the fact that I find it interesting and i'm sure will learn something new while reading it a second time. I like to analyze the facts with what others see as true and real.

This book is not for the faint at heart. It has bad language and extreme violence included.

I do have to say it is a very interesting book. One that I found hard to stop reading once I started. I don't normally like these particular Genre of book because of the harshness of it. Once I started to read it though, I wanted to see more and more of what was going on in this killers mind. I wanted to know just how it ended. It left me wanting to read more.

The suspense leading up to the end was fantastic. You never knew, while reading, what turn of events would happen next. It has the perfect mixture of acts of love to action packed chapters.

I will give a little sneak peak without giving the entire book away. Logan was raised by a loving mother and an abusive alcoholic father. In reading you will discover WHY Logan is the way he is. Early in the book Logan loses his mother and is forced to endure his fathers rage. Logan learns not to feel and in that, becomes the person he is throughout the book. Towards the middle of the book, it started to remind me of the show Dexter. I will leave the rest for you to discover! But I do want to tell you that by the time you get to the end of the story, it will leave you wanting more!

I did notice while reading that the book had a lot of errors. There were some places I had to re-read just for the sentences to make any sense. The grammar and spelling needed to be edited.

Another Great children's book by Tali Carmi!

This book takes you an a great adventure, finding new friends along the way! Will Terry find what he is looking for?

I feel this children's book can teach your child not to give up hope and to keep on trucking even when things don't always go the way they want. Terry Treetop keeps a great attitude throughout his adventure which, I think, is a great role model!

The illustrations are bright and colorful and will keep your little reader completely engaged in the pages!

It's a short read, so it's easy for young children to stay focused on it till the very end! I do feel that this book would be best for ages 5 and under. I feel that an older child would be to advanced in their reading and not have an interest in this particular book.

I recommend this book for the beginners!

Abigail takes an adventure on a magical bicycle to the desert and meets some new friends along the way!

The adventure gives children insight on what others may endure in other locations, but also makes it a fun learning experience!

I love the illustrations in this book. They are very bright and easy for young children to see. I feel it will keep them fully engaged while reading it! It's a very short story so I don't feel it would be overwhelming to it's audience!

So if your looking for a fun way to get your little one to read I think this is a great book to introduce them to! I'ts a great story to read at any time of the day and I feel it will get their little minds wondering and the imagination going!
