Rick and Ramona Holt sold their first Christmas wreath at Pike Place Farmer's Market in Seattle in 1976. Rick was working in construction and Ramona was a piano teacher at the time. Looking for extra Christmas money to buy Christmas gifts, they harvested cedar boughs to sell to a local nursery. When the owner of the nursery said that he didn't need the branches after all, the Holts decided to try their hand at making and selling wreaths so the boughs would not be wasted. They worked all night making wreaths and the next morning they sold their first Christmas wreath in Seattle, Washington. That was 40 years ago and now the wreaths of Christmas Forest have decorated thousands of doors around the world.

DeleteEvery Year my boys and I always go around looking at all the decorations and lights. They just love watching the big snowflakes and the lights reflecting off of them. My biggest and only wish this year is that my boys have a xmas they can remember and actually have a xmas. The last few years it has been quite hard being a single mom of 3 boys and building from nothing. I know wishes are only wishes and we can only dream they come true. But that's my only wish. Other than everyone being safe and finding the love they all deserve!

ReplyDeleteI'm most excited this Christmas about spending time with family and friends and finding those special, not necessarily expensive gifts, that are just right. I love decorating the tree and house with Christmas decorations. I still have decorations from my childhood that have a lot of sentimental meaning and decorations that my children made. I look forward to enjoying the old decorations and adding new ones that have meaning and knowing those will one day be old sentimental decorations too. Some of my favorite decorations are birds, angels, toy soldiers. I always love a beautiful Christmas wreath. My youngest son with special needs Loves the school bus, so I wanted to find a school bus Christmas ornament for him this year. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway :)

ReplyDeleteI know many who keep their trees up all year and decorate it to the season! In the Spring they add pretty flowers and spring time ornaments, then in the fall do the same thing with colorful leaves and fall items.
