Fabulous Day At Color Me Rad 5k Fun Run

This is a promotional post brought to you by With Open Eyes To See on behalf of USFamilyGuide.com

This year has been an interesting one for myself and my family. We have taken on some amazing runs....well for me it's a walk with a hop...but some amazing times no matter. One of the runs we did was a charity run called Color Me Rad which took place on September 29th.

I was able to get free tickets for my family to participate and run a giveaway for 2 others to join us. It was a fabulous time! For those of you who have never joined in a charity run before, it's just as it states...for charity. The money raised from ticket sales all went to help a local organization. This run was held in Virginia Beach Virginia as well as other cities around the United States.

So what does it all entail??
I'm glad you asked. It's a fun day that everyone can get together and be healthy while also having fun and helping out a local charity. You can dress up in loads of colorful attire such as: tutus, head gear, colorful socks and light up attire. If you don't have anything like this, There is a station that has everything you could want for sale all during the event! There is no age limit nor a time limit to complete...Just have fun! You don't have to run it...Thank goodness because I would not have done very well HAHA. You can walk, Run, Crawl and even push a stroller.

When you sign up for the run, there are time slots that you can choose from. Each slot starts 15 minutes apart to give everyone a chance to participate without overloading the trail. You can also purchase race gear and extra color packs while signing up. This particular race had 3 tiers to purchase. The basic or regular package included shirt, race bib, face buff, seat cover, rad tattoo, color pack and finishers medal. This is the package our family received. The second was the VIP package which included everything that the regular package has plus a tutu, rad socks and 10 color packs. My amazing winners of the giveaway received this package! There is also a 3rd option, which is the kids pack. It comes with everything the regular package contains but it's at a smaller price.

In the Color Me Rad Run, there are what they call "Color Stations." This is where you get to run through arches while volunteers throw colored corn starch at you. Don't worry, it washes out...mostly. 😋 Each station throws out a different color and by the time you finish, you have a rainbow covering your entire body.

During the race, we came across some amazing people who were out to have a great time just as we were.

For me, I was not only there to have fun, but to reflect on what I wanted in life. What my fitness goals are, where I saw myself and most of all to see that I could accomplish something amazing!

Once you finished the race, there was a special lady to hand you your finishers medal and congratulate you for completing the 5k (3.2 miles) Our group all finished at different times but everyone waited for the last of us to come through the finish line with a welcoming fit of hoorays as loud and proud as banshees. It was absolutely amazing.

And then came the after party!!!

When you came in from the finish line, there was a stage set up with music and a live DJ. Even the main man Ryan Johnson was there to join in all the fun festivities.

They threw out color packs, t-shirts, shorts and other Color Me Rad attire for everyone who participated in the fun run. We danced, threw our color packs up in the air and had a good ole time.

All in all, the Color Me Rad Fun Run was so much fun, we made new friends and had a blast. I can't wait to find out if they will be doing another one next year. We will so be there.
